Continuous Improvement

Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement, is one of the cornerstones of the Toyota Way. As a Team Member (TM) you are encouraged to share your ideas on how to make improvements on a regular basis. These improvements may apply to the products we make, our processes, our work environment, and more.

Teamwork

Teamwork is another cornerstone of the Toyota Way, and at TMMC we live it every day. Co-workers are there to assist and support you, and they count on you to do your job right — passing on only quality work. This supportive environment extends far beyond the production line: through our Red Barrel Program, for example, TMs have raised thousands of dollars to assist each other in times of family crisis or serious illness.

Pride

We are proud of what we do. We build vehicles for Canadians and Americans right here in Canada. We’ve won more JD Power & Associates Plant Quality Awards than any other plant in the Americas. We’re also leaders when it comes to the environment, sending zero waste to landfill, and maintaining our ISO 14001 certification.

Giving Back

TMs are encouraged to get involved in causes close to their hearts — in some cases receiving paid time-off when they volunteer. For example, TMs have participated in Habitat for Humanity builds in the community, regularly support the United Way, and maintain an on-site Giving Garden growing produce that is then donated to groups in the community, such as shelters or soup kitchens.

Social Events

Even with 8,000+ Team Members, we strive to maintain a sense of family. Throughout the year, the Social Club organizes a number of activities, including a Golf Tournament, Family Picnic and outings to Sports Events and Theatre Productions. And the highlight of the year is a year-end family event to celebrate the season and that brings together all TMs, their spouses and children.

TMMC was recognized on the 2017 Canada’s Top 100 Employers List, marking the 13th consecutive year to receive this honour. TMMC was the first automotive facility to ever make the list.
