How do I apply for a co-op position?

Our co-op opportunities are posted on the school job boards in January, May and September for the following co-op term. Please be sure to submit your application though your school job board to be considered for our co-op opportunities.

What are the skills that you are looking for a in a potential co-op student?

A critical thinker and motivated problem solver
Willing to learn with a positive attitude

A collaborative Team Member with strong interpersonal skills

How will I be supported throughout my co-op term?

All our co-op students are paired with a Student Lead who will provide coaching and mentorship throughout the term. They will assist you with project planning, share industry knowledge and best-practices, and provide you with learning opportunities.

When do co-op positions become available?

Winter Term (January to April) → Recruitment begins early-September​
Spring/Summer Term (May to August) → Recruitment begins early-January​
Fall Term (September to December) → Recruitment begins early-May

What is the TBP Project?

The Toyota Business Practice problem-solving methodology is our unique way of approaching a challenge by finding the root cause. As a co-op student, you are trained on this problem-solving method, which can be applied, not only at work but also in our everyday life. You will be assigned a TBP Project that you will work on throughout your term. At the end of your term, you will have the opportunity to present your project to a panel of senior management.

Weld: RX Weld Quality improvement by defect reduction
Press: RAV Stamping Material Cost Reduction

Paint: RX Paint Shop water usage reduction as an environmental initiative

What is the role of an engineering co-op student?

Our engineering co-op students are involved in troubleshooting day-to-day manufacturing problems and continuously improving existing manufacturing processes with an emphasis on safety, quality, productivity and cost, to achieve lean manufacturing.​

What departments hire co-op students?

We have co-op opportunities available at every stage of the manufacturing process including Press, Weld, Paint, Plastics, Assembly, Quality Control, Environmental and Facilities. We also hire co-ops in Information Systems Engineering, Production Control, HR and Finance.​

What is the career path of a student at TMMC?

Students can join TMMC as a co-op students or into one of our New Grad Analyst positions. We support continuous development through on-the-job training, skills training, online training programs and special projects. We always look in-house first to fill our Analyst and Senior Analyst positions.
